“Exile in Amsterdam was first exhibited at Platforms Project in Athens, in May 2019, presenting a work by photographer and social activist Rab Harling, who spent several months in Amsterdam photographing the city at set locations and set hours of the day, capturing its revolving and evolving tone and visage. Reminiscent in its scope and duration of his several-years-long documentation of the social cleansing of Balfron Tower, this is an unusual work by Harling – visually calm, nostalgic, and wistful, it captures a time when the artist was forced to be away from his city, and away from the busy daily political life he is typically engaged in.” – Iavor Lubomirov, Cable Depot.
