Separation
2006-2008
5″ x 4″ & 6 x 7 colour negative.
North Circular Road, meandering its way through the suburbs of North London, a patchwork of connecting roads and grey civil infrastructure that alternates between such extremes as an eight lane highway and a perpetually bottlenecked two lane road. Charging straight through the centres of many once thriving communities, North Circular Road handles the personal transit needs of a mobile population, leaving in its wake degenerated communities divided and an environment battered. Whilst London sleeps, Separation explores the fringes of one road, in one city, and the impact our personal and collective transport choices have on communities and the urban environment around us.
